Do you Android?
In the previous post we have discussed the essence of what a software is and how it's devided into two main categories which are:
- System software
- Application software.
In this post we will be looking in depth at System software:
System software
describes a kind of software that operates a computer’s hardware and
application programs, it can be considered as a linking layer between the
hardware and user applications, and it usually includes:
- Operating system
- Basic input/output system (BIOS)
- Device drivers
- Utilities (Defragmenter, compilers, etc.)

What makes Android so
special as an OS, is it being user-friendly and that it makes good use of a
device resources.
According to CNET and Google, more than 2 billion devices run
on the Android operating system [2].
One special feature about
Android as well is the ability to create an integrated network between all of
your devices be it your phone, tablet, TV, even your car, which makes sharing
between these platforms very easy and enjoyable. An example of this would be
the ability of android users to share their phone screens onto their TV’s and
cast what’s on their phones on a much greater panel without the need for
special wires or connections which makes this process much more convenient and
pleasurable.

Stay tuned for the next post where you learn about the other main category in the world of Software which is Application software!
