Let's talk input and output!

In a previous post, we went over "Software" as a main component of any information system.
Hardware is another major component of any IS that functions by software instructions.
The main difference between software and harware is that software is virtual compared to hardware which can be seen and touched. When we classify hardware a very important category shows up which is Input and output systems. So what are they and how do they differ? look at the following diagram:

The diagram classifies common devices used daily into Input devices, output devices, and in the middle we can see an intersection between the two. which represents devices that are considered both input and output.

In the input circle we can see devices such as keyboards, webcam, mouse, barcode scanner, joystick and more, and although these devices differ in the way they function, they still have a common role to play which is: Helps the computer get the data from the user and enters it in the computing system.

In the other circle we can see examples of hardware devices which include printers, speakers, projectors, and monitors. They also vary in shape and function but they share the same role which is: Helps the computer to display the data and results after the process completes.

We can also see some devices in the intersection between the two circles, these devices can do both processes, an example of this would be a touchscreen.

To summarize, take a look at this chart:
