My Favourite TV show

If you saw the thumbnail of this post and thought "What is going on here?" then you and I have something in common, that was exactly what I thought when I googled "Dexter" for the first time after I had finished reading the first part of the well known novel  "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay. The search results at that time motivated me to go and watch the show on Netflix.

I started the first reason of the show and binged over it for 2 whole days until I completed it, it was hard to resist the temptation to watch the next episode, and the next, and the one after that until the first season was over.

Ok now let's talk about the show itself, According to IMDB Dexter is classified as crime, drama, mystery show. The star of the show, Dexter Morgan is a serial killer who works with Miami Metro Police in the Forensics department as a blood spatter analyst. He uses his knowledge in this field to cover up his crimes, he thinks he is doing the right thing because he only kills criminals that manage to bypass the law, he follows a code that he calls "Code of Hary" to make sure he never kills an innocent person.
Each season consists of several episodes where the chase of Dexter on his preys is shown. The series is made up of 8 seasons which are all very exciting and thrilling.
The overall rating of the show on IMDB is 8.7/10 which is considerablly high, but believe me, the more you get to know Dexter the more you like the show and get attached to it.
Here are some reviews from the IMDB sites on the show:

"It's a hard accomplishment to get someone to actually love a serial killer. But Dexter is one of those few attempts that works. It's not forced upon you- the show doesn't shove the whole "well this serial killer had a terrible childhood..." in your face. And it doesn't need to in order to get you to love its main character. You just do."

"Dexter, a forensics expert at day, serial killer with a touch of vigilantism at night. Dexter is creating a believable and very detailed portrait of a, lets say troubled, sociopath. One of the parts about the show I like best is the emotions that normal people exhibit, thus forcing Dexter to mimic them. Good laugh when the emotions Dexter fake get real, and he is scared out of his mind, like in the relationship with his "girlfriend" Rita, mother of two and victim of her abusive ex-boyfriend. Also liked the acting of Jennifer Carpenter as Dexter's sister Debra, adds a nice touch colour to the show, without drifting into clichés.Thrilling story, many details, and one of the best opening sequences ever. "

"Dexter is hilarious; it is easily the best new show on TV! Dark, dry humor crops up in the most unexpected places, and the settings and dialogue are laced with CSI's pseudo-scientific appeal. While the show may appear to treat standard morality as irreverent, it is actually an excellent study of humanity at its best -- and worse. The character of Dexter, a disassociated, psychopathic serial killer, is somewhat reminiscent of Data, the android in the Star Trek series. Dexter is devoid of normal, human emotion, and has to learn behaviors by rote. Seeing the world through his eyes enables us to closely examine what is "right" and what is "wrong." We have to pause and wonder about our own perception of reality.Overall, the show is a side-splitting outlet for the vigilante/serial killer/dysfunctional being in all of us. Well done! "

So, after reading thse reviews including mine, do you think the show is worth your time? I definetly do! let me know what you think in the comments and whether you plan on waching it in the near future!
